Comments: Ok, I'll be the first to admit it... I'm unapologetically a dirty, glam, devilish rocker girl!! My tastes vary within each sub-genre, but my pulse doesn’t beat unless I’m listening to classic rock, hair bands, sleaze/glam, metal, thrash, or southern rock (hey, I’m a sweet southern girl)!! I grew up on this music. It began with my first two favorite bands (Black Sabbath and KISS) at 10-years-old, and quickly progressed to me sneaking down as a kid to watch Headbanger's Ball in the middle of the night during the late 80's and taping over family reunion VHS tapes with videos of WASP, Dokken, Maiden, and all the other crazy f*ckers. The rest is history!! It’s an addiction I have no desire to cure, and for me, Rocklahoma is the best place to get that fix year after year!!
I'm not the girl who comes to Rocklahoma each year simply to walk around the grounds so people will take pictures of me, meanwhile not actually knowing more than six words of a Crue song. Come on!! I come to Rocklahoma because I am one of you- glam, metal, thrash, it’s all in my blood. It IS my blood! So, I am the girl in the crowd, with all of you, nearly breaking the seats (oops!) from my excitement of seeing my favorite bands sweat their asses off for you, me, and 30,000 of our closest metal brethren!! I’m the girl that threw her panties on Jim Morrison’s grave at 17-years-old, the girl that flew to London just to see the very first Hard Rock Cafe©, the only girl like me who willingly took on the boys in the roughest Pantera pit (at 16-years-old, and yes, I broke my arm!), the girl who undoubtedly rocks vinyl lace-ups better than anyone, and the girl who is honestly the nicest damn female anyone could ever talk to. There’s no doubt about that.
So, my desire to be Miss Rocklahoma comes from my life-long connection and attachment to this amazing genre, and my own history as a metal bassist (which I began at age 12). I was born in Memphis, Tennessee (so rock is in my blood), and have lived all over the United States, including North Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Utah, Pennsylvania, and New York (to name a few). During all that time of bouncing around, having to form new bands in each new city, and losing important connections to people I cared about, heavy metal, glam, and similar sub-genres remained the one major constant for me and allowed me to feel connected to something larger, something more profound. So, because of the amazing influence this music has had on my life, I want to do my small part to help further the cause.
