Metal! I work in a Tattoo shop with a bunch of guys who
always give me a ton of crap for being a super fan of all my
80's hairbands. Im constantly teased by the guys, yet I have
never let them bring me down, and I never will. Last years
Rocklahoma kicked my ass hardcore and I cant wait to do it
again this year! “Oh my God, you’ll never believe who is
gonna be in concert (insert ANY date here).” If I had a
quarter for every time I uttered those words, I would have
enough to purchase lifetime tickets at the venue of my
choice, because, let’s face it, music is my life. It’s not
about jamming as many songs as you can on your iPod and
pressing shuffle play. (Trust me, you will not find any
Barbara Mandrell on my playlist!) It is about being defined
by what you listen to. Ask anyone who knows me. They will
tell you I can annihilate almost all of them at Rock-n-Roll
Jeopardy. For most of us, music ties us to events in our
lives and marks milestones and since I grew up in the 80’s
most of my “coming of age” events involved some Glam-Band
jam. They were our battle cries, our comfort, and our will
to go on and as we grew up they became our escapes and our
releases. One single memory can be tied up with one tune and
every time you hear it, it takes you somewhere. My summer
plans always revolve around who’s in concert and where. I
have driven for two days to attend events. I have
officially seen LA Guns 10 times (as of this weekend) and I
will see them 10 more times if I can. Why should I be Ms.
Rocklahoma? I am Rock-n-Roll and when people look at me,
they know it. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
