LITA FORD Biography
In 1976, legendary rocker Lita Ford was only 16 years old when she busted onto the scene with the all
female band The Runaways.
Rockin hard around the world, the band made a staple in music history before the members all went their own way in 1979.
Shortly after The Runaways, Lita Ford began her solo career releasing Out For Blood in 1983 featuring the single "Out For Blood" and then releasing Dancin' on the Edge in 1984. Dancin' on the Edge featured the single "Fire In My Heart" which reached the top 10 in several countries. The next single "Gotta Let Go" was one of Ford's biggest hits. It reached number one on the mainstream rock charts, number one in England and Lita also received her first Grammy Nomination for that song.
Lita Ford toured extensively and made several guest appearances on TV shows for the next four years. Lita Ford returned again, the lighter pop-metal she had long favored had broken through to mainstream audiences, which set the stage for her most commercially successful album entitled, Lita. Released in 1988, the Platinum selling album featured four commercial hits. First was the #1 "Kiss Me Deadly", next #9 "Back to the Cave", #2 "Close My Eyes Forever", and #3 "Falling In and Out of Love". The ballad "Close My Eyes Forever", was a duet with the prince of darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne.
In 1990, Ford released Stiletto which featured the singles "Hungry" and "Lisa". The song "Lisa" was dedicated to her mother.
In 1991, Ford's release was Dangerous Curves. The release brought 3 singles, "Playing With Fire" "Larger Than Life" and the hit single, "Shot Of Poison."
In 1995, Ford's last release would be would titled Black featuring the single "Killin Kind."
Ford would then take time off, marrying lead singer Jim Gillette of the band "Nitro" and starting a family.
In 2006, Lita stepped into the recording studio to record "I'll Be Home For Christmas", a duet with Dee Snider for Twisted Sister's release, A Twisted Christmas.
It's been nearly 15 years since Lita Ford has rocked the stage. That's 15 years too long!
