XYZ Biography

::XYZ::

XYZ was originally comprised of Terry Ilous on vocals, Marc Diglio on guitars, Patt Fontaine on bass and Paul Monroe on drums.

XYZ is a band that has taken it from the streets of Hollywood to the biggest stages in the world. During their four-year tenure as veterans of L.A.'s club wars, XYZ followed the familiar progression of recording and mailing demos to every ear they could catch. In early 1989 the band won the devotion of Enigma Records and earned their first accolades from Don Dokken, who was so taken with the band that he demanded to produce XYZ's debut. They emerged from the studio with an auspicious debut, simply titled "XYZ".

XYZ immediately put their performing muscle to work on major national tours as the tourmates of TED NUGENT in 1989. The young band's steadfast reputation spread and they were subsequently offered back-to-back tours with ALICE COOPER, FORIEGNER, and OZZY OSBOURNE. XYZ then graduated to their own headlining club tour, and continued to rewrite the XYZ's of rock 'n' roll. Now, having won the admiration and dedication of Capitol Records, XYZ gets down to the matter of serious record-making once more. "Hungry" was produced by George Tutko, who worked behind the boards on recording for ROD STEWARD, LITA FORD and PAT BENATAR, among others and the band toured the world in the early 1990's and received 2 gold albums!

The forthcoming comeback "Letter To God" is what the rock fans eagerly awaited since years! Along with JK Northrup the album was mixed by Tom Fletcher who worked for SCORPIONS, TOTO, YES among others and features 2 remakes of previous XYZ hits: "Inside Out" and "What Keeps Me Loving You". "Letter To God" is dedicated to Terry Ilous' son, as the song "Letter To God" was the last one they wrote for the CD especially after that tragedy of Terry's son dying late November 2003.

In 2005 XYZ Terry Ilous went back into his archives and discovered eighteen songs that the public has never had a chance to hear. "Some of these songs should have ended up on the first or second CD," relates Ilous. "It's about time they made it out to the public because they bring back such great memories of that whole time period. I always loved the song "Cant Get Over You” which I wrote for my wife. We spent every dime we had demo-ing those songs. Still today they mean a lot to me and I know the fans will love them as much as I do!"

In 2007 Terry Ilous released "Here and Gone" a compilation of rare tracks recorded for his solo projects or with XYZ. Several of these tracks were originally recorded long ago for CD releases that never saw the light of the day, while others, recorded more recently as soundtracks for movies and TV. The translation behind the Japanese writing on the CD is "Bushido" meaning "The Way of the Samurai" This to represent his musical path so far, which has been a tough road filled with many challenges, sacrifices, and its share of disappointments and sadness, yet so full of joy. Truly, an unbelievable journey that took one outcast foreigner all the way to Hollywood for the real American Rock and Roll Dream! Terry " I just wanted to share some of those moments in time with my friends and fans from all over the world, that I have been lucky enough to touch and connect with in some way through my music".

The members of XYZ are thrilled having been invited to join so many other great artists from rock in performing at an event such as Rocklahoma.
